As referenced in this comment on v2.11.0 testing issue this recipe has missing data:

recipe_bock20jgr_fig_8-10.yml is missing model data for preprocessor fig_9_cmip5/swcre: Amon, CMIP5, historical, r1i1p1.

I checked and it's searching for data like this: /work/kd0956/CMIP5/data/cmip5/output1/NCC/NorESM1-ME/historical/mo/atm/Amon/r1i1p1/*/swcre/swcre_Amon_NorESM1-ME_historical_r1i1p1*.nc

time_frequency: mo instead of mon and for modeling_realm atm instead of atmos I tried to add this information to the recipe, now it works. But I don't know why it was running earlier without these settings...
