ESMValTool tutorial for beginners #312

Hey guys and especially @ESMValGroup/userengagementteam , I am getting more and more (really) beginners' questions about the use and running of ESMValTol these days (through various channels - email, JASMIN support, GH Discussions etc), and was wondering if it'd be a good idea to organize an (ideally periodic, but high hopes) tutorial for beginners over Zoom. What do you think about this? And of course, am not just raising this and then promptly exit stage left, I'd be willing to help with it

here is an example of a person in actual need of support https://github.com/ESMValGroup/ESMValTool/discussions/2894#discussioncomment-4029331 - it'd be very nice if the @ESMValGroup/userengagementteam could help such users on a short-term basis via some pointers/examples/even a sustained dialogue via a Discussion/issue and on a medium-term basis via beginner's tutorials

Hi @valeriupredoi 👋

At the UET meeting yesterday, @rswamina proposed (following a discussion at the last Cross Team meeting) that she would trial triaging new discussions throughout April and aim to tag those who would be best placed to comment, see 2023-04-04: UET meeting: minutes ~(I'll update this link when the PR is merged)~.

With regards to beginner tutorials, it was discussed at a previous UET meeting that the UET do not currently have the capacity to do this. However, around the time you created this issue, a quick start guide was introduced in the ESMValTool Tutorial, which may contribute to helping beginners?

Would you be happy to see how the triaging trial goes, then, if there's a need, perhaps we can revisit the beginner tutorials idea? What do you think? 😊
