There are also no instructions on how to go from handset to speaker phone mode.

I'm not sure how it worked on previous versions, but since version 0.8.30, you can toggle between ear speaker and loud speaker with the left softkey when in a call.

There is, however a bug (described in #3) where it starts off wrong, but after the second press, the toggle feature is in sync again.

Also, with the arrow up/down, the volume can be adjusted (it distorts when it is set too loud).
