Chicken Keeper Map Icon Requests (Compost, Chicken, Haybale and Eggs) #153

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Hello!

We are trying to organize and add to an existing map showing community and
backyard gardens that keep chickens in New York City as well as resources
for these gardens such as places to buy chicken feed, places to sell eggs,
places to buy hay, places to take chicken waste (composting), vet, etc.

I see you already have a vet icon, thanks! And an open air market icon,
which will work for a place to sell eggs.

Could you design the following icons to help us with our project?

1. A chicken icon (hopefully just the profile of a chicken -- a hen not a
rooster, those are illegal in NYC, so no crest, but maybe with some tail
feathers.)
2. A bale of hay icon
3. a compost icon! I think this will be useful for lots of people :)
4. An egg icon.

Thanks so much! Please let us know soon if you can help. All the best; this
is a great resource.

Zoe

Good job Thierry, don't worry we will upload your icons (including winter
sports) to
the collection.

It's just that I am busy with the pack of 100 icons Matthias designed :)

Thanks for the compost icon!! It is so perfect!

Would you mind designing a
1) chicken icon (the most important)
2) bale of hay icon
3) an egg icon?

I wish I knew how to do this stuff myself. All your help is much appreciated
and I
will happily donate and stuff.

How would I then go about using the compost icon that Thierry created in my
map??

Sorry I am new at this!

Thanks again,
Zoe

Zoe - Good suggestions, they will all be here soon. You can't link to Milherous
icons until we have posted them in the Project. The Chicken and the Haybale
will be
on the [TourismIcons] page, the Eggs in the [StoresIcons] page and the compost
will
be on the [MiscellaneousIcons]. You can read how to hotlink to them then here:
[HowToAddNewIcons]. //Matthias

Milherou, once again, great job!

COMPOST - We have Recycling in the Misc category (brown) so just put your icon
on
that, move the compost 1 pixel up (not the "smell" part) and it's done! No
transparency issues! ;-D

CHICKEN - Also great, but to big! it's a monster chicken! Try to make it
smaller, I
know it's a hard thing to measure, try something not bigger than 15x15 pixels.

HAYBALE - Absolutely to big, it's flooding the icon. Try to never design bigger
than
20x20 even if the space available is 24x24. Seeing the haybale icon, I have no
clue
what it is, even if I know what area it's in because of the color. I'll think
more
about this... Any other suggestions on this?

EGGS - For sure they look great, but I once again think the symbol is a bit to
big
and the eggs are a bit to round, don't you think? Shouldn't they be more
egg-shaped? :-)

Keep it up Milherou, you are doing great! Sorry for my late reply's, trying to
find
time for it but life is busy right now, so, thank's again for taking your time
on this!

//Matthias

haybale uploaded.

You will find them all under [StoresIcons] or [TourismIcons].

Zoe, hope you like them. Don't forget to thank Thierry for these 3 icons, and
consider donating to him. He is preparing a paypal donation button at the
moment.

For the Compost icon, I know Recycle icon is under Misc, but Compost is about
natural
stuff. I think it should fit under Nature (green). What do you say Matthias and
Thierry ?

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
My first version was green... I don't know what is best...

Matthias is the one to be convinced.

He is the Weakest Link, this time :)

Original comment by nico.mol...@gmail.com on 25 Jan 2010 at 3:14

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
So Recycling is not about nature? I absolutely think that Compost goes into
Misc.,
the same as Recycling. They are the same Composting is Recycling!

That's my humble opinion...
