Using that Edit button and the modal dialog for the translations is fine, yes, if that is the only option. So we keep the URL-populating once for the first time through (and can be used for subsequent times if there is not too much text).

Extra 1 - Both for that view and for the edit dialog which the project owners use, would it be possible to replace the tiny edit icon with a normal size button at the bottom of the view? The little button is not obvious.

Extra 2 - Also, is it possible to make that model dialog larger in both cases? Thanks!

Yes, you are right. The translator can use the "TRANSLATE" button when making translation and that "circle" button for further edits.

As for the Extras, sorry but it's a bit unclear for me. You mentioned edit dialog used by project owners, but we left that solution and use now Airtable pre-filled form, not the modal window. Can you place share the screenshot?
