Compulsary Tags #42

Open RygelC opened 4 years ago

To aid in searching through fits, it might be a nice idea to introduce some compulsory tags so those searching can distinguish between fits for different types of play. Perhaps have a high level tag, such as PvP, PvE or Industry, and then allow the fit creator to further refine the tag, e.g.

High-Level PvP PvE Industry

Specific PvP Solo PvP Small Gang PvP Fleet PvE Missioning PvE Incursions PvE Ratting Industry Mining Industry Hauling

There are obviously more possibilities, but that's a few. The descriptions on many fits aren't indicative of what they are for, and even more lack any tags or a description leaving it up to the visitor to try to figure out what the purpose and capabilities of the ship are.

Adding a section to the Filter section on the left, with the high level tags colour coded, and then having each fit lined with a border corresponding to that code would let people see what type of fit the fit is without having to open it.

An option to expand this panel and show specific tags would go one step further to helping users find the fits they want.

Thank you for you feature request. Can't disagree that something like this should be implemented and it was requested several of times by other users.

But the most difficult part for us it to give the relevant tags based on someones fit. Perhaps you have a idea how we could determine if a certain fit is based on PvP, PvE or Industrial (think the last one is the easiest).

Love the "Playstyle / High-level" idea as this will make it able to do a even better search for the end user.

But the most difficult part would be the specific tags. I understand that when we define a certain fit as PvP we could show the possible tags but it would be more helpful for the user who is importing to show the most relevant tags only.

Hope that you can help us out just a bit more :).

Hey Lionear. I probably should have been clearer. When submitting a fit, the user would be presented with the high-level tags, and they would need to select one of the high-level tags before being able to submit the fit. Once they've selected a high-level tag, they would be presented with the option to refine the tag into one or more of the more specific styles of play.

How you deal with fits introduced before the change, I don't know.
