This is a rough outline that details how we could plan an event in advanced, program all the necessary changes, do testing and etc and implement a system of scripting that automates events for us.
On Polaris, I programmed an "Easter Egg Hunting" event that awarded the first three people awards. Something like this but on a larger scale for all holidays, even just server events could be possible. We can pre-plan and set things up in a Dev server and then at a later date, we can have the scripts auto fire off on their respective days and make changes to the server and world on the fly without having to restart or have administrator intervention.
With how busy our schedule is and how important events are for the server. Planning with the time we do have in advanced is important.
Concepts:
Program and test scripts on dev server, polish them and prepare them on production server. Automate them to run on certain times and days and to disable and clean up after.
Create a calendar so events can be tracked easily and publicly.
Create an integration with Discord so announcements are auto-fired off.
Before release, we should pre-program the first six months of events.
