I believe you have it correct, and we should probably be more clear.
did:earth enables DIDs for any cosmos compatible blockchain that supports IIDs. In theory, a non-cosmos entity could register on the cosmos name server, but that is likely frowned upon.
I think for now, we face this head on and be clear that did:earth is for assets on cosmos application chains.
Currently the text reads as follows:
"The chainspace is defined as a string that identifies a specific Cosmos blockchain (e.g. "ixo", "regen", "cosmos") where the DID reference is stored"
I was wondering if this is too Cosmos specific? Or is did:earth and IID specifically for the cosmos ecosystem. If the latter it would be useful to state this explicitly - in the abstract perhaps. E.g. did:earth is an instance of an IID designed for the cosmos ecosystem
