Create Single Sign On or Cross Authentication between CoG and NOAA's VLab #1259

This is part of the statement of work in the R2O Initiative covering the period: 5/1/15-4/30/18

Quoted from the SOW:

A second activity is to cross-authenticate VLab with the Earth System CoG environment (NSF 1035162; PI: DeLuca; $917,124; 4/15/10-9/30/13; now funded under CPO), which focuses on data distribution and model inter-comparison projects. Several NOAA projects, including HIWPP, NUOPC, and NEMS, either currently use or are interested in using both CoG and VLab for complementary purposes. Cross-authentication would, for example, allow NOAA users with a single sign on to use the data services and public websites of CoG together with the forums, trackers, repositories, and other tools within VLab. The single sign on capability is a key requirement for projects like HIWPP.

Luca reports that in the next two years, ESGF is going to obandon OpenID 2.0 in favor of OpenID Connect a totally different technology.
