Als späterer Verantwortlicher für das Programm (Thomas) möchte ich, dass der zugrundeliegende Code “wissenschaftler-angepasst” bleibt, um spätere Weiterentwicklungen zu ermöglichen.

As far as I understand this means

Use R as programming language for this project.
Don't use too advanced R language constructs (like reference classes)
