What steps will reproduce the problem?

What is the expected output? What do you see instead? connection failed
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? mine is
win 7 sp1 alliance-v1.2.0pre-1281 friend is mac osx 10.6.8

Please provide any additional information below.
No matter what we do we cannot connect to each other. we took routers out of
play and just connect to our modems. no firewalls enable. Any guidance
someone can provide would be helpful
