You can manipulate the TechRacer “map” quite badly. For example, if you 
start a TechRacer game while having an image map selected, you start with the 
image map plus the girders placed. Very weird and probably not intended.

The same is true for hand-drawn maps (you can mess around a lot here!).

I used r9819e69bc6db on GNU/Linux.

Huh.  How is that bad? Sounds pretty cool actually.  
Disclaimer, haven't actually played techracer yet.
