Not possible to publish our extensions anymore because 'request entity too large' #265

Closed kdvolder closed 3 years ago

See https://github.com/eclipse/openvsx/issues/219

The other user experiencing this issue says it is fixed for them. For us however it still isn't working.

I'm raising ticket here instead of re-opening the ticket since I have been told this is the right place.

I should note that we have succesfully published these extensions in the past and they always had similar sizes.

I am experiencing the same issue with my extension joneug/mdal.

mbarbero commented 3 years ago

It's weird, It should have been fixed with yesterday's tweak. Just to be sure the change have been taken into account, I've reloaded our proxy. Would you mind trying again? Thanks.

joneug commented 3 years ago

Now it works for me. Thanks!

kdvolder commented 3 years ago

Well now I'm getting this: "You must log in with an Eclipse Foundation account and sign a Publisher Agreement before publishing any extension."

Still using the same credentials as before so not really sure what that is all about.

I really would like our extensions latest releases to be available from OVSX, but seems like eveything is working against doing that.

Okay I found some instructions about this here: https://github.com/eclipse/openvsx/wiki/Publishing-Extensions

This is all news to me. I was using this process before:

https://www.eclipse.org/community/eclipse_newsletter/2020/march/1.php

These outdated instructions BTW are also still the easiest result to find on google when you search for "ovsx publishing".

Feel free to close this ticket in the assumption that the size issue is solved. I am not able to verify that at the moment until I've cleared those 'legal hurdles' with our legal department.

I guess publishing our extensions will have to wait until I come back from vacation after new year.

Thanks for the feedback @kdvolder. We tried to get the word out about the changes with this post on November 10, which was shared on various channels and via a banner on the site.

https://blogs.eclipse.org/post/brian-king/open-vsx-registry-under-new-management

We'll look to other ways to get the word out further with future posts.

Ok, doing so. If anything else comes up, please open a new issue. Thanks.
