I looked into what the sites are currently doing to give us a better idea of what the "standard" should be: Adoptium, OpenHW Group, OpenADx, OpenMDM, OpenPass, Science: Shows logos by tier then alpha order Edge, OpenMobility, Sparkplug: shows all members in alpha order IoT: they show 3 random logos, then view all links to a page where all logos are shown by tier, alpha order. Microprofile: all logos on homepage, no clear order
Jakarta and ECD Tool not sure what is planned in redesign.
Note: Microprofile and Tangle have logos are grey and color on hover. Open ADx includes short descriptions.
As for requirements:
Order of display. The order should be either random or alphabetical. i.e., the order currently used on the IDE WG is neither of these, so wouldn’t meet that requirement. My preference would be random to share prominence across the members, but that’s a personal preference.
Visibility. I think having all member logos visible should be a constraint (rather than having to scroll using a widget), again to be fair to all members.
Listing members by class of membership. I think this is optional. My recommendation is if there are fewer than 12-15 members, just listing the members is more effective; if there are more than 12-15 members, listing by class has value.
Please discuss any other requirements.
