@ValentineHerr , this is mostly for me, but it would be helpful if you could make a plot of raw RW vs year without the spline in identical formatting. The example used here is POTR_NA_CedarBreaks.21-0301A.

Here's the latest:

This still needs the plots of growth vs year, one with just the raw data, and one with the spline. For the one with the spline, I think it would help to make a residual plot similar to this:

@ValentineHerr , if this is easy for you to do, that would be helpful; otherwise I can make these.

You mean with the vertical segments connecting observations to the spline?

ValentineHerr commented 3 years ago

Do you want me to save that specific example by itself somewhere special or will you just "copy/paste" from wherever into PowerPoint?

Yes, that would be perfect. I think that's the most intuitive way to visualize it in the context of that schematic.

Do you want me to save that specific example by itself somewhere special or will you just "copy/paste" from wherever into PowerPoint?

I'll just copy/paste.

image Ok, I pushed all those updated plots and you can find the one from the same tree here . I realize I didn't do the spline dotted, did you want that specifically?

teixeirak commented 3 years ago

Oh, that's perfect! thanks!

Okay, here it is:

This is good as far as I'm concerned, so will close this, and improve later if any coauthors have comments.
