careful not to confound conifers and broadleaf trees in discussion #115

@camerondow35 , some of the recently added citations are for conifers, so while perhaps worth citing, are really a pretty different story. I'm reviewing this but wanted to bookmark the issue because I need to stop for now.

delpierre_chilling_2019, huang_photoperiod_2020, and rossi_critical_2008 are all for conifers. If we cite these, we should do so in the context of them being conifers. It would be good to put in a bit of discussion of conifers, including these citations + some other lines of evidence (e.g., tree-rings).

Citations for these need to be removed/ changed in the abstract and intro. I'll come back to this.

I believe we can close this (but need to be careful with any further addition of references).
