1) Actually the color of points varies. I think that beige may be the first color no matter what the scenario edit type is, but then the colors change for other scenario edit types. As you probably know, the color of the features can be changed by right clicking the layer and choosing "Symbology" from the context menu, and these color choices will be saved with the scenario.
2) I can make the X larger, but unfortunately I cannot make the lines thicker, which I think is the main issue. Let me know if you want it to be larger. I can make the triangle solid, which makes it more visible, but then you can't see the point inside. Let me know if you would prefer a solid triangle. Again, there is no function that will make the lines thicker
Making the X and triangle larger would help some, since thicker isn't an option. I don't know if you are able to alter the colors it cycles through; if so, maybe you could pick a half-dozen very visible colors to start with. It's a bit of a pain to have the first color be such an ugly one, but it's not a big deal.
I'll make the X and the triangle larger, which is easy to do. I'll also take a look and see if there is anything I can do to change the default choice that QGIS makes for the first color.
I made the red X bigger, and I made the triangle bigger so that there is a space between it and the point. I think they are easier to see now. Issue closed
