NUS downloading always crashes #60

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What IOS did you use?
IOS58 and IOS36 (patched)
What is the first 4 digits of your Wii's Serial Number?
LU34
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Run either Dop-Mii v14 or Dop-Mii:WiiBrew Edition v14.3
2.Select IOS36, and choose to keep using AHBPROT or proceed with IOS36 (same
result)
3.Choose and IOS to install, skip patches (if applicable), and choose to DL
from NUS.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see a download and installation of an IOS like other versions of
Dop-Mii. Instead I get a black screen that says "Exception (DSI) occured!"
Please provide any additional information below.

I have wifi, it is set up properly, and I can use it in other apps. It also
worked in v11,v12.1b,v13, and the old WiiBrew Editions. I haven't tried an
install from a wad file yet, but I will later and see if it works.

Thats interesting, this is the first I've heard of it. The only thing we've
done different with out network code is compiling under the latest version of
libogc.

So here's a couple questions so I can investigate:

1) Have any network functions worked for you in this release or do they all
crash?
2) If everything crashes for #1, please tell me as much about your network
setup as you can.
3) (most helpful) Can you give me everything printed on your screen when a
crash occurs?

Thank you.

Alright, I found this on the libogc SVN:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2989151&group_id=114505&atid=668
551

Im going to look into yellowstar's suggestion and see if this will fix the
problem for you. Are you capable of compiling from the SVN?

Installing from wad doesn't work because of a bug in Title.cpp line 579 which
says "selection > 0" but SD from WAD is 0, so it should be "selection >= 0".

I've got the exact same prob, on v13/v14.2 WB, it was fine, but now when i
either download from NUS or try to do a syscheck with DOP-Mii it just gives me
a DSI Exception.
I've checked that the syscheck Error Occures when it reaches cIOS 236 (v5).
As for the NUS Dl crash, it happens on any ios, either new or old,
down/up-grade.

Alright thanks a lot. Regarding syscheck, I'll add code to block it from
analyzing IOS 236. IOSs like it (which have severely hacked modules) are
impossible to be read conventionally and caused crashing problems we had
earlier.

Regarding the network, Im still investigating, but talking to some people it
seems to be a known bug in libogc so Im working hacking in a quick workaround
or at least making it print "Network failed" instead of crashing. It would
really help if someone experiencing this issue could give me all the stuff
printed to your screen when the crash occurs.

Btw.: Downloading the "Internet Channel" works for me, IOS-Update from NUS
doesn't. From WAD: see above.

1) Both IOS and Channel installs crash.
2) I wish I could tell you something about my network, but I really don't know.
A friend of mine set it up for me.
3) I took pictures of the screen. Since my hands aren't extremely steady, I
took several so you could piece everything together (hopefully).

I tried the wad install (screenshot included), but it just keeps asking for me
to choose a source.

I can't compile anything. My laptop hardrive was ruined when I left it in
someones truck, so I have to borrow my mom's work laptop for now. >.<

Please try the attached .dol and tell me if this works for you. I'm using the
suggestions in the libogc issue. (Remember to rename it to boot.dol)

The provided dol seems to be working fine with the network, nice work.
About cIOS 236, isn't is just a trucha bugged IOS 36 ?
Because when the crash occures, it has already shown enabled enabled etc.
Would you mind suggesting an alternative, other than changing IOS 36 ?

Original comment by crazyrab...@gmail.com on 22 Nov 2010 at 8:05

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
If shows the enable stuff, then its probably the IOS being read after IOS 236
thats causing the crash. If you could figure out what that IOS is I would
really appreciate it.

And thank you for the feedback on the network error. I should have the fix into
all branches of the SVN very soon and I will have new posted shortly afterward.

I also get a crash when choosing to use 236 as IOS and no AHBPROT.
As for the IOS after 236, it's 224 (hermes 5.1 if my memory serves me correct).
EDIT: New version 14.1, i see this version has no AHBPROT and now 236 can be
loaded just fine, but the problem with NUS Dl-Crash is there again for some
reason.

Yup, I've fixed the NUS crash this time for sure. I'll be committing a fix and
uploading new downloads in a moment.

Alright new downloads up. Should no longer be any crashes. I promise this time
:P

Thanks! Since I was the first to complain about the crash, don't you think I
pretty much deserve my name in the credits? Maybe not the first, but at least
the second name. If that is still too much, how about you change the name from
Dop-Mii to Dop-Joostin!

You can't deny that I deserve it. So what if I didn't help fix it, whining is
half the process, right? ;)

So now with the New Version (14.2) Downloads are working fine and the prog is
also loading fine with any patched IOS (going back and choosing another patched
IOS is also working fine now, because with AHBPROT it crashed).

As for the syscheck, it doesn't crash at all, reads all c/IOS just fine, till
it reaches IOS 31 (v3608) where it freezes after showing all enabled/disabled
stuff, the wiimote dies too, it just stops there and the only way to unfreeze
it, is by holding the power button (5" to close) and reboot.
This exact problem also occurred with the version prior to v14 (v13), hope
there's a way to fix this.

PS: The IOS after 31 is 30 (v2576), all my IOS under 202 are updated to the
latest (non-stubbed) versions.
