fix typos #74

Some found by the Debian packaging QA checks, the rest via codespell $(git ls-files | grep -v '\.eps$' | grep -v '\.pdf$' | grep -v '\.ai$')

Thanks, this looks great. I didn't know about codespell. Will start using it myself.

I changed the base branch to develop from master. Our master branch is a stable branch that corresponds to the most recent release, and we do not put changes into it between releases.
