The Goblin's Bat pet mobs in Newton Movalpolos have more health than they did in retail, making reliably one shotting far more difficult/near impossible solo. According to the solo Black Mage guide on the FFXI wikipedia, the bats should have no more than 1260 health making it possible for a completely geared Black Mage to be able to one shot the bats using Flare.

After numerous tests, I've seen that the bats seem to have more than 100 extra health. Examples:

  1. Surviving after 1254 damage.
  2. Surviving after 1335 damage.
  3. Surviving after 1278 damage.
  4. Surviving after 1289 damage.

These tests were done as a Level 68 Taru BLM with 100 INT, 5 MAB, Fire Staff, and access to Wizard's Roll. The camp used for these observations are described in the black mage guide as "Camp #1", at (G-9). One past player claimed that they "consistently 1-shot with Flare for 1256," while another had similar experiences, sharing that they "dealt 1266 to one shot all bats with Flare." The only times I managed to one shot bats were when my Flare clocked in at 1354 damage.

Lowering the health on these bats would make this camp far more reliable for solo BLM exp. Thanks.

Same applies to Bibiki Bay pets.

Another note on these Newton pets is that they do not drop the coffer key when it should be in their loot table.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUnhnd5c8is examined these bats on retail and I got around these HP values for them.

Level 71 Goblin's Bat HP ~1262 HP Level 72 Goblin's Bat HP ~1285 HP Level 73 Goblin's Bat HP ~1307 HP

Also a screenshot of a coffer key dropping from them. Though I think this should only drop from the higher level ones. image
