Message-Board work load

Hi lads, looking for help with the message-board, its is becoming a mountain of work and could use assistance in the database logic, front-end, and back-end. I have the bones of the operation which is a good start. we need to come up with a plan to tackle the points below. Its quite tricky, and as you suggested it is the major part of the assignment.

Going forward we need to put some thought into the data base in terms of more columns

• Allow for blob(pictures) or a column for a link to a picture stored on the server so students can post up code or photos etc.
• Post title for new messages
• Incorporate user names, dates, @tags
• Delete and edit functions that give student access to delete their messages, the tutor access to delete any messages and the admin the ability to wipe the database at the end of the term and or ability to remove any problematic posts
• Create a mechanism to search for messages by either username, post title, or date. Potentially maybe even key words within the text body?
• Need to focus on layout so it looks good
• Need to make a major decision on whether we have one universal message board page, that all students and tutors communicate on, or have one message-board page per unit offered

I had imagined the message board would be separate for students but have the available posts filtered by Units. Eg. A student in CITS3043 can only see messages related to CITS3403. Granted I do not know how to code this/ but I am more than happy to look into it.
