Bergen Raise #1010

I think I have the CC configured for Bergen Raise. I am surprised to see this. Does it qualify for Bergen Raise? I expected a 3N response.

Here's my CC. I have highlighted the settings that I think are relevant.

No, But you have disabled 2N Jacoby, so 4H is probably the only way to show a opening hand with 4-card support.

ADavidBailey commented 1 week ago

My description says 3N = 13-15 4333.

I get the same bidding with Jacoby 2N = 1

I find it hard to pick a convention card for filtering scenarios. For example, I want to filter Bergen Raises. It's easy to set Bergen = 1; but, it's not easy to know which other settings might interfere, e.g. Reverse Bergen, Soloway Jump Shifts, Weak Jump Shifts, ...

How do I know which CC options take precedence? For example, Bergen vs. Fit Jumps?

And, it's impossible to know which other scenarios might be sharing that same CC. So, making a change for the current might foul up the filtering for some other. I think I'll need to create separate cc's for some scenarios -- Weak Jump Shifts, , Minor Suit Stayman, 3 Under Jump, 5431 After NT, ... I've doubled up on some; but, I think I'll do a separate one for each.

Thorvald & Edward, at Ricks's suggestion, we're putting the CC name and RegEx filter for the bba archive in the original PBS file.

3N = 3-card support and a normally a 33(43) hand

ADavidBailey commented 1 week ago

Can you send me a link to the Bergen Raises that BBA uses?

ADavidBailey commented 1 week ago

Here's one w/4-card support and 6 HCP

I think this is correct. I said earlier that I'd put J2N back and it didn't change. That was wrong. My bad.

I corrected it https://sites.google.com/view/bbaenglish/description-of-conventions/bergen https://sites.google.com/view/bbaenglish/description-of-conventions/reverse-bergen

Thanks, Edward. I used Cohen's to create the scenario. Here's the chat... →Kibitzers: --- Bergen Raises all show exactly 4-card support. →Kibitzers: • 3♣ = Constructive (7-10) TP →Kibitzers: • 3♦ = Limit Raise (11-12) TP →Kibitzers: • 3M = Preemptive Raise (0-6) TP →Kibitzers: • 3OM = Ambiguous Splinter (12+) TP →Kibitzers: • 3N = 4333 (13-15) HCP →Kibitzers: https://www.larryco.com/bridge-articles/bergen-raises
