I see 2 club-losers, but an interesting hand.

1: Opening 1N in South would be my choice 2: Explanation of 3H as 13-18 is wrong, should probably be more like 15-18 3: Using 3N to show extra is OK, but that should also end Souths ambitions about slam 4: 4D is fine 5: 4N is wrong, both because of point 3, and also because it should not be the limited hand that goes for slam

I think we have discussed this before. North has no reason to bid beyond 4S with a minimum hand. Personally I think 4C might even be an overbid.

  1. With some hands I can't avoid bidding a slam that could have been a good contract with a slightly different hand.
  2. This is an interesting hand: Current BBA (North has no reason to bid beyond 4S with a minimum hand) but S bids. N signals Queen of Trump with J and 9 trumps. S has 11 tricks but he estimates that he will earn more, so he bids 6. image

It is better, and OK for now, as the "weak" hand no longer takes control. I do not expect it to be perfect. What about the first hand?

It's impossible to avoid missed slams.
