South should simply bid 4h after 3d. You want to play hearts so any bid which forces you to go to at least game has to be slam interst. 4d as support as stated in description makes no sense. As you don't want to go to slam level 4d is wrong and 4h would be correct.

I think 3h is too pessimistic. We have 14 hcp + a singleton + good support in partner's side suit. I think we should bid 4h instead of 3h. image
