This is actually a bug i ran into in the past when i was trying to use
follow_fields - when we follow fields, we set the fields base
address to the pointer we just accessed, if the object does not have a
fields base for some reason it will simply crash.
We avoid that by just calling things directly. This new code uses the
same method for player party manager as the old tas.
