A programming feature (e.g. APIs, tweaks, changes, etc)
Why are you making your suggestion?
My feature or change is a good idea because it seeks to modify existing features and add massive amounts of new content to Waste of Space at the cost of minimal amounts of time.
What do you propose? What should change, or what should be added?
Aliens should have a "Tag" that shows that they are their alien type; examples: "AlienFodder," "AlienFighter," "AlienCargo," etc. which can be accessed by Gyro and Scanner.
A new Alien known as an AlienScout replaces the existing system of randomly spawning Aliens. The AlienScout would randomly enter a system that does not currently contain any aliens and if allowed to survey that system (stay within a certain range of any player), it will exit the system and an Alien fleet of a random scale will spawn.
AlienCapital is more Cruiser sized, so there should be a much larger ship to fit the description, for now, AlienCapital should be renamed to AlienCruiser.
AlienFodder should be renamed to AlienFighter.
AlienFighter should be renamed to AlienInterceptor.
There should be a recode of the existing Alien AI to improve it. This should be done by a trusted member of the community proficient in using microcontrollers to lighten the load on the developers.
A community event to design new aliens would be a nice idea. There could be multiple variants of existing aliens as the current aliens are repetitive.
If any kind of large AlienSuperCapital was implemented, it could contain a central AI controlling its own custom fighter complement. Destroying this AlienSuperCapital would disable all the fighters, but it will have an escort made up of AlienDestroyers.
Aliens are not relics, something is still producing them, possibly an AlienMothership. These could function similarly to the Drone Battleship in "Starscape", where it is a large moving structure with turret encampments. AlienStructures can be generated on planets with a minimal player presence depending on part counts and if a player is currently residing on that planet. If both checks apply, Aliens can build a structure of four types.
An idea chosen for addition is the potential for Aliens to chase players who engage them in combat. They would not warp after targets that have not fired their weapons as to better safeguard starters.
It is quite clear a PVE update would need more than just a revision of the existing aliens alongside new ones, planets are still quite empty for the most part. I believe NPCs that can inhabit planets would fill this void.
The NPCs would have tiers such as primitive, civilized, advanced, and precursor.
Precursor-tier civilization specifically would be the true creators of the Aliens that fill these wastes of space, defended by large amounts of them.
At the other end of the spectrum, primitive-tier civilization would be made up of unarmored entities that have not discovered space-travel and at the very most, are expected to be unarmed. However, some may have spears they use to attack players.
Planets would have a value labeled population if they have NPCs. If this value hits zero, they are extinct and will no longer generate new population for a while. This value has a ceiling of twenty.
NPCs would have randomly generated limbs depending on their randomly generated torso. This is translated into a seed which defines their species name, so in situations where NPCs with the same seed are on different planets, they will be given the same species name.
There could be a Toxic planet type inhabited by zombies that have a limit of thirty but can pass the limit by infecting players. Population above 30 will not be saved, instead defaulting to 30.
The zombies can be of any tier, depending on what they infected as they retain the information of that they have assimilated.
The zombies cannot go extinct, as they will constantly be produced by the planet itself, perhaps some kind of hivemind encouraging the growth of the colony.
