Can't get past installation. #4

Hi love the work you have done on this! I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly but I just cant get past the install. I got X1 Yoga gen3 "vanilla". Main problem: Installation suddenly reboots when there are 2min left.

Not sure if related but, other problem Disk utility just suddenly restarts during "Erase to APFS". I was able to convert an exFAT partition to APFS without and using this atm.

Currently using I'm currently using the nvme that I got with the computer. I have not replaced anything in the computer and it's as close as vanilla as possible.

Steps I've done Downloaded EFI folder. Downloaded opencore 0.6.3 Extracted EFI to my USB install media (created with my main Catalina computer) Extracted opencore to USB install media Renamed config-DW1820A.plist to config.plist Booted installer USB.

Any ideas to what the problem might be?

I think the problem may related to your NVMe Drive. What NVMe Drive your machine comes with? Be careful that PM981, which comes with some batches of ThinkPad X1s, is strongly NOT recommended to use for hackintosh machine. It’s very unstable on macOS even with specific patch loaded, and you need LOTS effort to make the OS even boot with this drive.

If your device come with PM981 NVMe Drive, it’s STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you switch this drive to sth compatiable with macOS, such as Toshiba XG5, WD SN720, or even a slower SATA SSD with m.2 form factor. PM981 just don’t work.

...and the /EFI folder already comes with OpenCore, every opencore patch is actually a OpenCore bootloader with specific drivers and configs, therefore there’s no need for you to download OpenCore again and overwrite it.

Also, if you don’t replace the Intel 8265AC WLAN Card, you will need to implement itlwm (3rd-Party Intel Wireless Card Driver for hackintoshes) driver by yourself to make it work properly.

Thank you so much for your promt answer! I just double checked and yes the drive seems to be pm981... Funny enough I just finished backing-up my other m.2 NVME drive. I'm going to try and test if my Kingston A2000 drive works any better. Thanks for the reminder of the wifi itlwm kext, I actually stumbled upon that driver myself earlier this week. I hope it works! I'll let you know how it goes with the new drive! So excited. 😍

Sorry to have taken your time.. It was the drive 100%. With the new Kingston A2000 nvme m.2 drive I am now dual booting OSX and Windows! Still some small stuff like bluetooth and sound that I need to fix. Sound or bluetooth is not available for me as it seems.
