Just to double-check: did you go through the YouTube video to set up the oauth connection/password, or did you set the password on the account manually? The username should normally be an email address.

it happens for whatever email/token is supplied. same happens if I just submit junk as input.

The token needs to be supplied in response to the purple-request, not as the password on the account. You might need to delete the account and recreate.
