Messages sent over chat do not appear until restart #53

I am using Pidgin for Windows v 2.14.13.

I was able to get the Teams plugin to work. However, when chatting in a group, none of the messages I send or are sent to me show up in the session. However, if I close the client and open it again, I can see the messages in the session. New messages will exhibit the same problem.

Oh no! Sounds like the complete opposite problem to https://github.com/EionRobb/purple-teams/issues/51 ;( Is it happening for a particular type of group message? Does it work ok for one-to-one IMs? Is it in a Teams Channel or a multi-user group chat thingee?

Are you able to get a debug log? To do so, open the Help->Debug Window, then leave that open while receiving a message from the normal teams client that's not showing up in Pidgin, then pause the output of the debug window and save to a .txt file and attach to the issue here?

You might also want to review the txt file to make sure there's nothing sensitive or private that you don't want public. Or else you can send to me directly.

Sir!

Thank you for your response. I have tried both one-on-one and via groups with the exact same result. I am attaching the debug output now.

The log does not appear to have anything sensitive.

That's so weird! The log is completely full of failed requests, eh

But yet some requests work fine?? I'm at a bit of a loss as to what this might be... I might need to add some extra debugging in to try figure it out.

Do you have system proxy settings or vpn settings needed to connect to the Internet that might not be set up in Pidgin perhaps? Or were you getting any popups asking to confirm server certificates?

Actually, just to rule out the last idea, can you try using the https://github.com/EionRobb/pidgin-win32-nss-cert-import plugin to see if loading the Windows system certificates into Pidgin would help?

No VPNs or content filters. Shall I place that DLL in the Plugins directory?

I also disabled the Proxy setting on Pidgin.

Ok yeah, the certificate idea was a non-starter, I can see that some requests go through fine but then another request on the same server fails:

Hmm... maybe the v1 vs v2 difference? Does your company have restrictions around blocking or allowing New Teams vs Classic Teams, perhaps?

No, our firewall is pretty open.

Is there anything else I can test on this end? Perhaps the AV software?

I tried lifting AV restrictions for the Pidgin executable, and still no dice. I even tried to use this at home, and still nothing. Any suggestions?

Thanks for sending that through. I can see that the websocket message stream is behaving better than the legacy one (which is still failing several times per second, so weird!)

In that debug log it shows Rico sent a giphy message at 14:44:03 - did that show up?

Thanks for sending that through. I can see that the websocket message stream is behaving better than the legacy one (which is still failing several times per second, so weird!)

In that debug log it shows Rico sent a giphy message at 14:44:03 - did that show up?

So is it now just that messages sent from not-Pidgin won't show up in Pidgin?

The issue varies a bit in how it manifests, but the primary symptom is this: when attempting to chat with other Teams users, neither the messages I send or any sent by the other party will show up in the chat window. Nothing shows up in real time. However, if I close the client and open that same chat window again, sometimes the messages that were being sent from the previous conversation now show. New messages still will not show.
