connects to remote host but screen is just blank and soft k/b is not responsive #493

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. ssh username@mydomain.com (I have a dyndns account)
2. enter my password, then nothing at all on screen, pressing anything on soft
keyboard does not change anything
3. but on the remote host, i can see the connection went through but connectbot
just does not display anything at all on screen

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
expected result should be the command line from the remote host, but instead
there is just the cursor there and tapping anything on the soft keyboard does
not do anything

What version of the product are you using (you can see this by using Menu
-> About in the Host List)?
connectbot v1.7.1 2010.10.08)

What type of system are you trying to connect to?
ubuntu 11.04 2.6.38-11-server

If you are able to connect, what is the output of "echo $TERM", "uname -a",
and any other relevant information on the host?

Please provide any additional information below.
my remote host is actually my PC. If i use connectbot to ssh into it using its
local ip address, it works fine, but it will just not respond when i use the
domain name although it does connect when you verify who's connected on the
host itself.

I must point out that the very first time I used my domain name to connect, it
worked perfectly. Then, for some reason, it stopped working after I tried
connecting using its local ip address. The public ip address of the host might
have changed but I don't know if it's related or not.

From the host itself, I can ssh into itself using its domain name, but from
connectbot, there is just nothing on the screen after i enter the password.
Entering the local ip address to connect from connectbot does work though.

Any help on this will be appreciated.

I tried connecting to my domain name again and it worked this time, really
don't know what was the issue, but it's still worthwhile knowing what was the
trouble, nothing changed in my physical and logical setup since I posted this
issue.

I must say, I would like to know what fix this issue because i am having the
same issue. Connectbot connects to remote host, excepts the DSA key, but then
nothing. Terminal screnn takes no input and no response.

ssh username@mydomain.com
Connecting to domain.com 22 via ssh
Verified host 'DSA' Key: xx:xx:xx:.....

Please if you would email me a solution: thanks

I managed to fix this issue by editing the host settings and enabling the
'Start shell session' option. It seems to be a feature rather than a bug... :)

Thanks!!
