Update: this "fix" gave out after a few months, so I bought a brand new Google Pixel 5 and a 4-pack of Chargies for $100 so I could keep the battery from going bad so fast this time around. Problem solved.
it worked! thanks

I am at GitHub Issues Page of this post to test if I can add a comment here directly without having to give utterances any access to my GitHub account? If you are seeing this comment in the blog then it means it worked!
@aman-godara , you don't need to give Utterances permissions for you to write a comment on my website. Rather, you need to for your own website.
@ElectricRCAircraftGuy I was at your blog and I could see a Signin with GitHub
to comment, when I click on it I got a popup from GitHub asking to give utterances some permissions.
I wish if there was an option for commentators to write comments without having to give any permissions. I checked utterances website they have mentioned the same alternative to write comments.
I don't have problem with writing directly in GitHub issues as long as utterances provide a link to GitHub issues page of the blog.
@aman-godara , that seems odd it would ask for Utterances permissions. I may have to investigate and try it myself from a 2nd github account I create, or something.
Also just came across something called as giscus, it allows users to leave reactions to your post as well as comments. I was looking for reactions as well, as of now utterances doesn't allow that.
[UPDATE] by "post" I meant the "google pixel" blog post that you have. @ElectricRCAircraftGuy I really appreciate you going through all the trouble to explain how to leave reactions on a comment tho. It will be helpful to people who are reading these comments.
as of now utterances doesn't allow that.
That's incorrect. I just added a :+1: to your comment above without Utterances. Just do it from the GitHub issues page for this comment thread.
Also, it turns out Utterances does allow reactions.
In this image, I added the :+1: without Utterances. Just use the GitHub issues page. But, to add reactions with Utterances, click the smiley in the top-right:
You'll see this:
Click "Sign in", and you'll see this:
Click "Authorize utterances".
Now, click the smiley in the top-right (on the main article comments page) and Utterances will show this:
In summary: add reactions without utterances by using the main GitHub issues page for these comments. Add reactions with utterances by giving it permissions.
I really need to write an article dedicated to GitHub Pages comments and Utterances, so we can quit discussing comments and Utterances on this article's comments, as this article's comments should be discussing "One possible fix for your Google Pixel 2 if the touch screen quits working" instead.

how did you add the "8 minute read" information to the article at the top?
how did you add the "8 minute read" information to the article at the top?
@aioue , it's part of the https://github.com/mmistakes/minimal-mistakes theme I use. I set a words_per_minute
parameter here: https://github.com/ElectricRCAircraftGuy/ElectricRCAircraftGuy.github.io/blob/master/_config.yml#L57
grep
ing my repo for the word_per_minute
variable via grep -rni words_per_minute
then reveals that it is used here:
https://github.com/ElectricRCAircraftGuy/ElectricRCAircraftGuy.github.io/blob/master/_includes/page__meta.html
Anyway, it's part of the minimal-mistakes template and metaprogramming.
