Various parts of the car intermittently rattle while driving. Primarily affects door panels.

Cause of problem

• Poor fit of the door panel and the fact that it is not held tightly with screws or plastic rivets.
• A significant gap exists between the panel and the door chassis, and the door panel can move and rattle.
• The rattle is due to how Porsche assembled the door panels, using something like hot glue to hold certain pieces together. The problem is that this glue separates, resulting in interior door panel parts that should be held tightly together now vibrating while driving, going over bumps, or even listening to music. Porsche has since changed the way they hold the door panels together using rivets instead of this glue-like material. This may require replacing your doors, though.
• Could also be due to "faulty plastic bonds on door panel".

Action needed

This might be a known issue with Porsche that requires exchange of the door insides.

Due to the infrequency of the rattle and/or the context required to make it happens, dealers often aren't able to reproduce the problem and won't be able to fix it. If the dealer is able to fix it, one reported fix is to remove the b pillar cover and pack in "foam".

Another dealer attempted to fix this with the following write-up:

TO PROPERLY FIX CONCERN WE HAVE TO REMOVE ALL 4 DOOR PANELS. TO PROPERLY CORRECT ISSUE REMOVED ALL INTERIOR DOOR PANELS. UPON REMOVING FRONT DOOR PANELS THE UPPER RETAINING CLIPS WEREN'T INSERTED CORRECTLY ONTO DOOR PANEL. PROPERLY REINSTALLED FRONT DOOR PANELS AND VERIFIED ALL GUIDE TABS WERE INSERTED PROPERLY UPON INSPECTING AND REMOVING REAR DOOR PANELS THE GUIDE TABS ON PANELS WERE INSERTED CORRECTLY ONTO DOOR CAUSING THE GAP BETWEEN DOORS AND PANEL TO BE VISABLE, INSPECTED ALL TABS AND ALL WERE IN CONTACT.

But this did not fix the problem.
