[Feature Request] Breadboard #601

Open OmegaHaxors opened 7 years ago

A small 16x16 grid where you can place components inside of a single block to make a sort of pesudo-integrated circuit. Each of the sides will IO either power or signal from the side if a relevant component is installed; or an internal power dish/wireless signal can be used.

IO: Simply place a wire on that side of the relevant type to allow that side to IO (respects coloring) Power dish: Can only have one on each side (for power IO) and takes up the entire row its placed on Generator: Takes up 6 rows but allows for IO with shafts Solar Panel: Provides a little voltage. Small, but only provides 16th the power to compensate DC-DC Converter: Takes up multiple slots (4x4) Heat Dissapator: Can be used to cool the block for when your components run hot Gauges: Can be seen, even if the block is facaded

Every component when placed also shows up on the board when looked at, using miniaturized models of the block models. When you're done you can soldier the parts on (in a furnace) and you will have a completed breadboard in which won't parts accidentally come off when right clicked.

Yeah, this would definitely be nice.

How about a special crafting table for EA, in the style of a desk of an electronics engineer? With solder iron and what not...

The GUI of the table allows you to place wires (wires are free or you need to place an copper ingot for the whole PCB) and embedded component items (for example analog and digital chips, relays, analog components, I/O connectors, ...) on a grid and when you are finished, you can take out a "PCB" six-node block that implements (and simulates) the given circuit.

And can take that pcb, put it in some sort of plastic box (or any other "holder") and use it in-world right? Yes please! I even can help with modeling or gui drawing. unfortunately i won't help you with code (Kill me i won't understand java). I see it won't be easy... But we can try!

I think that would be a great idea; though player should be allowed to experiment with their circuits before actually setting them. Maybe add the ability to use a battery and meter installed into the table to test if the circuit works? Experimentation should be something encouraged with the breadboard, but using them as actual components would put the icing on the cake.

I had nearly the same idea but my idea was to made a box 2x2x1 where you can place elektric things like relays.... in the door you can add displays and buttons (all this stuff is only 50% of its original size) but works same as the original ones

I dont know the English word for it in german it says "Schaltschrank"

AMIDIBOSS commented 7 years ago

There's no word for it in english, because german tends to "merge" multiple words. I don't know german well, but for me its... Switchbox? Switch cabinet? I know what you mean, I guess... Let's call it circuit box for the moment

AMIDIBOSS commented 7 years ago

images Something like this?

OmegaHaxors commented 7 years ago

Maybe we could have the breadboard for signals and the switchbox for power.

Domi1993 commented 7 years ago

No switchbox for control and power, to control something like a power plant. Irl in the switchbox are power and control integrated
