I'm not sure I agree that this is a bug. The individual lamps are already a far weaker tick-accelerator than what most modpacks have access to; being able to stack them is nice.
I only stated it as a bug as it seemed contrary to Real-Life, in that no matter how many lights you add around plants they only grow so fast. Yes, a light above them would help, however multiple lights do no more than a single lights.
Perhaps a compromise in that the effect is more powerful, yet gets less prevalent the further the plant is from the lamp? That way you can grow single plants with a lamp right above, but a farm of size requires many more lamps.
That's precisely how it works now.
What if the farming lamps only affected the crops in a 1 block radius around itself? It still casts light, but the effect is a directional cone. That also means casting the effect 2 blocks from the bulb, or maybe 3 or 4 ( to leave room for vertical setups), so that players cannot just stick them in horizontal lamps and cheat the system.
By the way, DonBruce and Baughn are like my two heroes, and seeing you guys discuss my all-time favorite mod is just... wow... I've lived all of life now I guess.
Farming lamp effects are applied per-lamp without regard to neighboring lamps. This means that players can just spam farming lamps everywhere to significantly increase crop growth far past the point that a single lamp could do.
