CMake configuration is currently requiring to have git as a build dependency.

However, in the context of Debian packaging or other build system based on the release archive, there is no git environment available. Thus, git requirement falls useless.

There should be updates to:

lower the git binary requirement
provide a way to specify the version as a build argument (or fallback to none as already done)

Thank for the trigger , I remember we talked about that already. I will see that we schedule the task. It's already in the backlog for some time ;)
