@schaefi we have to revert this. Merging alone without a proper discussion is not acceptable, sorry. Also your code introduces even more issues.

NOTE: @m-kat and @Ichmed are working on a different approach, basically re-routing through one port to multiple Unix socket files. In this case we can just drop the whole idea of port range.
