Entities referring to non-Existing entities cannot be retrieved properly

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open a product whose predecessor has been deleted e.g. by the app engine 
console
2. It cannot be displayed in the browser since an error occurs which is not 
reported to the user

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
the deletion of entities that are referenced should have no negative effects on 
the user experience. i.e. entities that contain invalid references (Keys to 
entities that have been deleted) should still be retrievable.
