Not connecting to editor #5

Hi there, I am using a Disaster Area QConnect to connect my Enzo to the Enzo Editor on a Mac running Big Sur. For some reason although it looks like it's connecting the editor won't go past the 'Reading presets, writing names' stage. Are you able to fix this? Thanks.

This is a configuration issue. The editor is not receiving data from the Enzo. Make sure the Enzo is properly configured as described on the connect pop-up screen. Make sure you are using a TRS cable to connect the Enzo to the qConnect.
Use port x on the qConnect configured for MD.io. Make sure the Enzo and the editor are set to the same midi ch, and the inCh on the qConnect is set to a different channel. Set the USB on the qConnect to MIDI.

Let me know if this works or if you continue to have issues. I'm confident we can get you up and running.

Still no luck. I have made sure the Enzo is configured properly, using a TRS cable, Enzo and Editor are set to sane midi ch, and the the inCh is set to a different number. Also USB is set to midi on the qConnect. Only thing I haven't tried is using port x on the qConnect. The reason being I have this port configured for use with an expression pedal and I don't want to sacrifice that function. Is there anything else I could try? Thanks.

Look at pg 14 on your qConnect users manual. "Port X = MIDI output on TIP, MIDI input on RING. Designed to work with Meris or Alexander"

You need to connect the Enzo on port x, and configure port x for MD.io; You can configure port Y to work with an expression pedal.

Ok I'll try that. Only thing is I have tap tempo configured on y, I don't suppose you know if I can use one of the other ports for tap tempo?

ElliotGarbus commented 3 years ago

As far as I know, only ports x & y support bidirectional midi (MD.io), tap and exp. One option would be to get a Meris MIDI I/O and connect it to the 5pin midi ports on the qConnect. That would leave ports X & Y open for exp and tap.

Ok, along with a MIDI I/O I am considering upgrading to a RJM Mastermind PBC6 switcher which can send midi to a PC or Mac via USB. Do you know if that setup would help me utilise the editors?

ElliotGarbus commented 3 years ago

It looks like the PCB6 should work. It would require a midi Y cable to access the midi-in and out. Some users have been successfully using RJM products, but I don't recall if it was the PCB6. specifically.
