Problem opening the software Windows 10. #6

Closed Pick707 closed 3 years ago

Pick707 commented 3 years ago

HI, I dowloaded the Enzo editor and installed it on my computer on Windows 10. But when I click to open the apps I get this message: Fatal error. Failed to execute script main.

Could you help me to resolve this?

Thanks!

ElliotGarbus commented 3 years ago

My guess is there is one of 2 issues.
1) the ini file has been corrupted 2) your anti-virus did not allow the application to install correctly.

Fixes: .ini file is corrupted: Go to the directory C:\Users\your_user_name\Documents\Enzo Edit Presets and Library locate the file main.ini, delete main.ini Try restarting the app.

Virus Scan Issue: If the fix above did not work. Uninstall the app, Go to Settings/Apps and uninstall. Turn off your virus scanner Download and install the app turn on your virus scanner.

Let me know if either of these fix your issue.

Thanks Elliot for your fast support! I locate the ''Enzo Edit Presets and Library'' file but I can't open it. Windows ask for which program I want to open this file?..

You are looking for the directory: C:\Users\your_user_name\Documents\Enzo Edit Presets and Library Use file explorer, start at C: and the got to Users, then "Your user Name", then Documents...

Pick707 commented 3 years ago

As I said I found the file but can't open it. Sorry to be a little noob with PC.

You want to delete main.ini

The file is a text file, you can open it with a text editor if you want.

Pick707 commented 3 years ago

Hi,

I tried your second suggestion, I deactivate my virus scanner then re-downloaded and re-installed the application with no more success. For your first recommandation to remove main.ini I never found this file, in fact when I try to open the ''Edit Presets and Library'' I get nothing like an open folder. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Very sorry to bother you with it but I would really like to use your app which seem to be great! Pierre

All I can suggest one step at a time, using the file explorer, is start in C:, click on users, the click on your user name, then documents, then "Enzo Edit Presets and Library" For me the full path is: C:\Users\ellio\Documents\Enzo Edit Presets and Library image

Pick707 commented 3 years ago

Sorry Elliot but I do it right from the start but each time I open the folder ''Enzo Edit Presets and Library'' there is only this file: Library.json and no main.ini. If I try to open Library.json there is a window (word pad type) that open on lot of data related to the library itself and still no ''main.in'' file. If I make a search in the whole PC there is no result for such a file too.

Interesting... this is a bit of a mystery.

There is a log file located at: C:\Users\your-user_name.kivy\logs The log files record what happen with the program internals and should provide a clue to the issue. These are text files. Please post the most recent log file.

Make sure you have the most up to date graphics drivers for your system. If you need help let me know.

Pick707 commented 3 years ago

Hi Elliot, I joint the logs file to the email. Thanks again for your help! And Happy Easter!

It appears to be failing to load a DLL. First make sure your system drivers are up to date, I recommend the site below: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/intel-driver-support-assistant.html

If after updating drivers things still don't work, try uninstalling, turning off your virus scan, reinstalling and running. Let me know how it goes.

While I don't think it is impacting this issue, what Midi device are you using?

Pick707 commented 3 years ago

Problem resolved. I used a malware cleaner and now I can open the app with no issue. New problem thought ;) The app does not see my MIDI interface ''Disaster Area Midi Baby 3'' so I can't choose it in the MIDI connection menu... Any clues?

Thanks!

Pierre

Pick707 commented 3 years ago

Hi Elliot, Sorry to bother you again,

I have probably a setup issue, here it is:

The communication on both sides (app/Enzo) seems to work because when I move the Enzo knobs the app knobs move accordingly and the opposite is also thru. But if I select a preset in the library the sound will not change accordingly on the Enzo, it will not change at all. If I select one of the 16 presets on the left the sound in the Enzo changes correctly but if I drag a preset from the library to, for example, the slot number 3 it will not change the sound. If I select a preset directly in the library it does not change the sound too. Any clue on this one? Thanks again! Pierre

I'm happy to help. I suspect there is an issue with the firmware in the MIDI Baby3. Please reach out to support at Disaster Area. I was helping a user on the gear page, and he confirmed there is an issue with the current firmware.
HIs message:

Hi Elliot, you were right about the MidiBaby3 firmware. After a few emails with Disaster Area support, they have confirmed there is a bug in the latest firmware (8d) that broke the SYSEX data transfer. It is all fixed in the latest MidiBaby3 8e firmware that should make it to their support page soon.

Pick707 commented 3 years ago

Thanks Elliot, it makes sense that the problem could come from the interface part. I'll try it and let you know! :)

Well. the 8e version is not yet available on their website, they are still at 8d which does not work indeed. I assume that I will need a little more patience. ;) But I can use the app to create sounds and it works great at this! Great work!

I suggest contacting DisasterArea if you have not already. You never know, they may be looking for testers prior to the release.
