It saddens my VERY much that we accepted a command that volites our players trust as much as this ones does.

This is among one of the worst new futures i seen on tregmine so far.

einand commented 10 years ago

I suggest that we wait with removing this until we support joining more then one channel at the time.

How would joining multiple channels work? Might as well just start up a skype call if you are that popular. And how does channelview violate player trust? We stopped allowing owners unrestricted access to their zones, and removed banning from guardians under almost ALL situations.

einand commented 10 years ago

I have always believed that you shall be able to speak freely without interferance of admins or guardians.

If you are disepointed about something a staff-member done, and talks about it in a channel i do not want them to be able to lissen/spy on that without them knowing about it.

I can't see any need for this command at all.

Suggestion about how multiple channeljoins would work are like

/channel join channel1 /channel join channel2

And you get notice from both, like channelview does now. But all parts are informed about who is can lissen or not.

I don't mind the functionality of channelview at all, i just mind that the players are not aware of who can and ill lissen.

But this is all suggestion, if everyone else then likes it. Then i'm fine with that. But I created this topic as i feel it needs to be discussed.

I understand what you are saying, Ein. As a non-staff player, I have no issue with it because there is no rule against speaking against someone privately. However it does have its uses, in a sense that people could be discussing ways to harm the server in a private channel, or organize a griefing party - However unlikely the event may be.

The removal of this makes less sense for player trust than some of the other rules that have been instituted against Zone owners, Guardians, etc., if the issue at hand is player trust. I see no issue with an admin peeking in on a channel, they are trusted and should be smart enough not to abuse it.

einand commented 10 years ago

What other rules have been instituted?

pokecolemon commented 10 years ago

I never liked that, for one thing, a few times I've been pissed and just came online and spammed a channel lol.

lDiverse commented 10 years ago

Cole your allowed to spam in channels? Channel view has not stopped this.. It's all down to admin discretion, but it's clearly shown by recent activities that no one trusts any one. I personally only use channel view to assist with mentoring or to help people in GLOBAL when I'm in a channel. I couldn't give a shit what people talk about in channels, and no one is ever discussing anything secret - even if they were I couldn't care less.

einand commented 10 years ago

There are no rule against spamming in a channel, you can always leave the channel if you disslike whats said in it.
