I've mapped L2 and R2 to the areas for Hoverboard tricks in R&C1, but when i pull the triggers, nothing happens

(connected a DualShock 3 using ds3vita)

Are you sure you have the plugin installed correctly? I just loaded up Ratchet and Clank 1 and the triggers worked fine with the hoverboard races(even pulled off a Twisty McMarkx). It could be because you're using ds3vita, I'm unsure if that works as I haven't tested it. Have you tried any other games? Btw it worked for me with the default values
