SPUDemul.dll not working on Windows XP anymore...? #11

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

Whatever I do, the emulator always crashes while trying to initialize the sound
plugin. The older versions of the plugin also don't work (which was expected,
but I checked just in case). What may be wrong? Maybe my Visual C++ is too old?
Or there's no support for Windows XP starting this 0.58 version?

Intel Pentium 4 dual core@2.20 GHz, 2 GB RAM, GeForce 210 3 GB DDR3, Windows XP
SP3, DirectX 9.0c

This emulator is not support Win XP now. It's uses DX11 now (and DX10 for a
while), and it will be develop for DX11 in the near future. DX9 - is past, and
it has many limitation for the progress. So, you should use Win 7 with DX11
videocard (like GTX760 or equal) and modern processor (than more powerful then
better).

Thought so. :( Unfortunately I'm afraid it's not possible for me to use W7 at
the moment and it won't be possible for some time (a few years or so) for
various reasons. But thank you very much for you reply - at least I know what's
going on. Please keep up the good work, maybe some day I'll be able to use it.
If you can't help me in any way, then I think this issue may be closed. Thanks
once again.

First thanks for your works but legacy plugin is neccesary for many people dont
have powerfull hardware, example low end card DX10 based, in this case its
better use legacy plugin for performance

Second if you have make plugin OpenGL based, especially in VGAs ith OpenGL 4.x
support, this is very usefull and not only on windows

Thanks for your attention

Legacy code is harder to maintain, specially DX9 ones.
I know that's sometimes we don't have powerfull hardware, but in a very simple
rig you can run Demul, so there's no point in maintain 2 types of plugins.
Unless somebody help with this port.....

Not.
Better idea to use NullDc instead of Demul, it s more compatible (no prb with
old computer), more faster, (DX9 is a not limitation for the progress , it s a
limitation for YOUR progress).
Same for naomi game.

Demul is only usefull for Atomicswave.

"I know that's sometimes we don't have powerfull hardware" Sometime ? It s a
joke ? You know how many people still use dx9 ? Specialy in homemade arcade
machine ?
