Using just wiimote and nunchuck #34

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. This is a feature request!
2. Trying to play anything without a gamecube or a classic controller
3. The wiimote + nunchuck doesn't work

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The possibility to play N64 games with wiimote + nunchuck.
Game specific dynamic mapping of the N64 controller to wiimote and nunchuck
buttons would be nice.

What version of the product are you using? On which system and loader?
The one released in the download tab, from May 24.

Please provide any additional information below.
Snes9x GX uses wiimote and nunchuck, and allows for dynamic mapping of the
buttons (although does NOT allow game specific mapping)

It's not a high priority at this time, but eventually we plan to implement some
support for the combination (not sure if it'll be game specific at this time).

I understand, and thank you for replying.

But since VC wads also only accept gc/classic controllers, i'm stuck.

It would be a great advantage for this emulator.

Good work, though, guys!
Congrats!

I would like contribute to this project with a new feature this is the
wiimote+nunchuk controller.
I have attached the needed new and changed files for this. And I have uploaded
it to
megaupload too, http://www.megaupload.com/es/?d=QXBOUK3B.

Wow, I'm not a programmer, I don't know if this works, and I don't know if they
will
accept this either, but I'm already saying: THANK YOU!

@ DCelso:
We appreciate the patch, but the main reason we've been holding out on the
implementation of the Wiimote+Nunchuk plugin is because I feel there isn't any
good
control scheme that would work well with all games, and so we'd like a way to
configure the controls either in the menu or on a per-game basis so different
configurations can be used for different games or groups of games. We're
probably
going to hold off on the configuration until we rework the menu system as we
plan to do.
Also, for any future patches, if you could create them against a specific
revision
and submit a patch file (by running diff -urN). It makes it easier for us to
see
just the changes and apply the patch.

Developers, just like the emu is not perfect yet, why not launch this feature
in this
stage, and improve it when you work on the menu?

DCelso, don't you have a compiled full version of the emulator, with this
feature
working, to share with us?

For both: I understand that it's a hard work and I appreciate it.

Thanks.

Hello again,
I have changed several buttons in the key mapping wiimote and solved a litte
trouble.
Now if you push the nunchuk c button then the analog joystick will convert in
the c
keys of nintendo64.

In the attach files can download the source of wiimote controller and the diff
file
of svn diff command.

so do we put this in the folder or in the svn or whatever?

You can do the next between the steps 3 and 4, commented in issue 27.
a.- download wiimotecontroller.7z
b.- decompress it in the same folder of mupen64 and override prompted files.
    You must need a 7z compressor. www.7-zip.org
c.- download controller-wiimote.c and overwrite this file of the gc_input
directory.
Continue with step 4.

@ wii64team,

how hard do you think it would be at this point for someone to integrate an
option in
to the main menu for this?

what is the file that contains the main menu options?

and in regards to not having the controller layout working for all games, a
button
could be made on the main menu for controller setup, when you click that another
menu
should appear in which you can chose wiimote, or other, and perhaps select from
a few
different layouts
even if the wiimote works for a few games it still makes the experience a
little more fun

ill' look in to it what i just stated some more in regards to do-ability,
im only a novice programmer

Consider this fixed when beta 1 is released.
