black screen (without dump code output) #30

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. copy uae-wii v4, on root of my hdd, hbc 1.0.6
2. having the following tree as requested by install:
(hdroot)
.uae/
.uae/uaerc
.uae/floppies/->some adf here
.uae/roms/->kick.rom
.uae/harddisks/(nothing)
.uae/saves/(nothing)
.apps/uae/boot.dol (& friends)
3. Launching uae thru the hbc channel

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected to launch uae but had a short black screen instead (without any
message as seen on the wiki; then kicked back to hbc

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
"uae-wii-4-bin.tar.gz" unpacked on a win XP machine ,wiikey1 modded wii
plus softmod to read over usb.
I have a usb hard drive attached to the wii and many other apps run on it.

Please provide any additional information below.
I also tried many kick.rom (one from my Amiga Forever pack
"amiga-os-130.rom" renamed to "kick.rom")

Great project btw, I hope you will continue updating it :)

UAE doesn't support loading from harddisk, so you'll need to run it off your SD
card.

The directories should also be /apps/..., /uae/..., i.e., without dots.

Thank for the reply, it saved me some time tweaking the beast :)

Too bad for the hard disk, do you plan to implement it?
You should put it on the wiki, for other people with usb hdd.

I copied all the data from my usb hdd to my sd card and it didn't worked (same
issue).
HBC is installed as a channel.
I'll try to boot it thru bootmii.

I don't have an external harddisk for the Wii, so I don't really have any
incentive
to add support for that. Besides, I believe media support should be handled
outside
the apps anyway.

If you have everything setup as on

  http://wiibrew.org/wiki/UAE_Wii

I don't really know why it doesn't work for you.

I succeed in launching the emu thru a non SHDC SD card.

I think that my 8Gb SDHC isn't well recognized by uae
Same issue than the hdd:
-launch uae
-fade to black
-still a bit
-kicked back to hbc

If you need some feedback, tests about usb hdd implementation, let me know.
I also can somehow manage to send you a small hdd, without an usb case if you
want to
test it.

SDHC I think is a general issue with the Wii libs, and isn't an UAE issue as
such.

If UAE fails early on (as it seems to be in your case), the error handling is
quite bad, and will give you results as those you see. The reasons why it
happens
should be that some configuration file (or the kickstart ROM) isn't readable
for
some reason.

I'm working on Frodo right now, so I don't have any plans to get back to UAE in
the near future.

Thanks again for the fast reply Simon
I think for both of my cases (hdd and sdhc) the problem is that everything is
unreadable. I copied the exact content on a non sdhc sd card and everything
went fine.

Too bad you're not planning to update wii-uae soon. Even if I really like C64,
my
favorite old pal is the Amiga. I wish I could do some coding ;)
