scanline problem #71

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. scan lines on
2. change aspect ratio to anything but off.
3. frame rate 100%

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

scan lines as presented in scan lines off mode. adjusting aspect ratio results
in thick white lines.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

uae wii version 10

Please provide any additional information below.

scan lines required to reduce frame skip and slow down at 100% famerate in
games such as alien breed and superfrog. aspect ratio change is required to
90% in alien breed games to stop top and bottom screen info from going off
screen as screen is to big.

sorry, for some reason I put expected output as scan lines in off mode. don't
worry, i don't what I mean by that. expected output is scan lines as in
correct aspect ratio off mode.

With Scanlines option on the emulator draws only the odd lines whilst with the
aspect ratio it compresses the screen to adapt to the Wii screen. If the two
options are used together the screen is a mess. This is written also in the
configuration manual:

gfx_correct_aspect=<boolean> (default=false)

  If set to true and the emulated Amiga screen has a larger vertical size
  than the display window, E-UAE will fit the screen to the display by
  leaving out certain lines. This is useful, for example, if you wish
  to fit a 640x512 Amiga screen into a 640x480 window.

  Don't use the option with gfx_linemode=scanlines. It'll look ugly.

You should use fast and max in the emulation option to use 50fps even if only
some games do not have issue with 100% framerate. Try also to disable the leds
to have a bit speed up.

I found how to fix your problem.

Try these configurations:

gfx_width_windowed=320
gfx_height_windowed=240
gfx_width_fullscreen=320
gfx_height_fullscreen=240
gfx_linemode=none
gfx_lores=true

The GUI will be not usable since it is written for 640X480 resolution, but I
want to fix this in the next release.

finally got round to trying this, and it was working great, but now my
compatibility has taken a hit.

the lotus games no longer load and last 2 doesn't either. i might have
accidentally change something in the gui which might have effected it. not sure
though.

going to fresh install and see if that works

excellent work

In the new release (V. 11) you can set 320X240 resolution from the GUI
