Exception (IOS) occurred when using wiimote to browse roms

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Booting up emulator via homebrew channel
2. Browsing games using wiimote

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expected the emulator to work normally but it freezes instead. Some times it 
doesn't even show the exception, just freezes.

Does this issue occur on VBA-M r781 -

If so, please report the issue to the VBA-M forum.

What version are you using? On GameCube or Wii?

When using gamecube controller to browse no exceptions occur. Have tried 
booting from several different SD cards and USB devices but the problem stays. 
I'm also having exactly the same problem using FCE Ultra GX. Wii64 and Snes9x 
GX are working just fine.

I noticed that deleting the settings file fixes the problem. It only works 
normally for a while though and then the problem returns.
