Jumpy screen in 240p mode #23

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Load up Wii-Mednafen
2. Set 240p (Double Strike) from options
3. Load up any game (from any system)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

A superbly clear, low resolution progressive picture that matches the original
output of the PC Engine (amongst other machines), instead the screen is jumping
around like crazy (looks as though it might be switching back and forth between
resolutions)and is unplayable as a result.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

I am using v0.1 of Wii-mednefen and am using a PAL Wii in 60hz mode running
though an RGB SCART cable in PAL60.

Please provide any additional information below.

Thanks.

This is mentioned in the release notes:

"*NOTE* Double strike mode has not been tested on PAL Wii systems and as such
may not function properly. Further, double strike for PAL-based games (288p)
has not been implemented. If there is enough interest, I will look into
adding support in a future release."

However, I would like to get this working correctly, so please let me know if
you would be interested in helping me debug the issue.

Thanks.

Hi, I have further tested PCE games in 50 hz and the screen is stable, however
there is a scaling artifact in the center of the screen. I'm not sure if this
can be eliminated, I think it's due to the PC Engine running most games at 239p
(256×239), that's my guess anyway.

I already spoke to you via email a while back expressing interest in helping
out and testing with 240p/native resolution modes. It's an important feature
I'd love to see implemented.

Many thanks for your hard work, it's really appreciated.

Great, sounds good. I sent you am email yesterday with a link to a test build,
did you receive that?

No I didn't receive that. I've checked my gmail and BTYahoo accounts. If you
can send it again to my gmail address then I'll happily try out the test build.
Thanks

Fixed, will be in 0.1.1. Tentatively set for 1/20/12.
