Yoroi ranking can be bought - adapools is corrupt #2458

Ranking on adapools.org and Yoroi is for sale. You can pay the owner of adapools to get a better rank in Yoroi. This has always been suspected, but is now confirmed by the owner of adapools themselves. See their twitter and telegram channel. You can buy about 10 positions higher in rank by subscribing to a monthly membership.

Yoroi should consider dropping their adapools partnership for a system that displays pool impartially and is not yet corrupted by greed.

See my suggested improvement to the delegation center here: https://github.com/Emurgo/yoroi-frontend/issues/2325

Adapools' ranking system has always been very foggy, questionable, arbitrary and often not appreciated by pool operators.

Just had a look but cannot find any trace of their so called "pool karma".

Their website has many useful features, but ranking and sketchy monetization attempts are not among them. Transparency has always been a weakness.

Even without this recent bonuses-for-people-that-pay-us being introduced, I am still waiting (have been asking for it repeatedly) for the https://adapools.org/score page to be updated with exactly what all values in the formula are that lead to the calculated end value... as a bunch of variables that are used in the section near the top doesn't seem to be referenced in the name/value pairs below, such as world delegators, total_stake, blocks_estimated and so on.

Having slight penalties to pool ranking's in Yoroi just because pool operator never heard of adapools.org or doesn't want to pay money for patreonship sounds like a load of garbage too, imho..

Any chance of Yoroi team putting a bit more pressure on the adapools team to provide more transparency and detail to https://adapools.org/score page so community has a clear idea of how rankings are attained?

Great question. It is common knowledge among SPO’s that Adapools’ ranking is arbitrary and -to some extent- can even be called fishy.

SPO’s can improve their ranking through sponsoring, although Adapools are downplaying this fact in saying the influence is only marginal.

All in all, the Adapools ranking does not accurately reflect performance, but a subjective interpretation of what they think are ‘better’ pools, whatever that means.

I expected a more objective and scientific approach from Yoroi to manage wallet ranking.

Anyway, many more very useful wallets have showed up these past few months...

You make it sound like you have some reliable statistics with regards to percentage of delegators using this or that wallet - I'm pretty sure Yoroi is still up there amongst the most commonly used. I'll be the judge of how important this issue is - plus it goes beyond just Yoroi, as it affects adapools.org. P.S. I am an SPO myself. P.P.S. you might want to fix up your formatting, your post was full of characters.

Any further updates on this front? I'm not seeing anything resembling transparent native ranking explanation... best we have is some cryptic formulas at https://github.com/cexplorer/cexplorer.io/blob/main/doc/ranking.md - a simple walk-through with a couple of example pools would be useful, so a random observer can easily see/understand how say a 65 million stake pool and 35 million stake pool ended up in top 20 pools list in cexplorer today...
