Great analysis. I wonder if we should get this kind of information into the official Postgres docs.

What version of Postgres were they running? I know there have been some improvements in the table visibility rules recently.

Also, you should modify your Blogger blog to allow emailing of blog comments.

Bruce, do you know how to change Blogger to allow emailing blog comments? I thought it was there, but now I don't see any options for it.

We run a mailing list where all our blog comments go. You're welcome to subscribe to that, but I suspect that's broader than you wanted.
