One minor improvement and one minor bugfix #43

The bugfix was discovered while debugging an issue with wget. For some reason GNU Wget 1.12 built on linux-gnu drops the .zip extension from both downloads, breaking this install script. I don't have a good patch for that, so I'll not submit the hack I have.

Thanks for raising and fixing this, but went with the other PR addressing this.

This PR doesn't try to fix the wget issue, it fixes two other issues found while debugging that. It shouldn't conflict.
